A recent school shooting in Los Angeles has brought the issue of school safety in the bad light. So, people became aware of these happening. On 30th April 2023, two 17-year-old students have armed their high school with two guns which left 11 people dead and 5 injured. This incident has left people worried about the safety of students and staff at schools.

Gun violence, especially in schools, is still a national crisis in the United States and migrants are still allowed to carry a gun because of the “national firearms agreement”. Due to the licenses of weapons, such acts are occurring more and more frequently. In order to protect students and school staff, most schools have security guards. There are also usually controls at the entrances. As a way to prevent non-schoolers from entering the school, they have their own school cards, which clearly show the identifies of the students. In addition, the police have increased their presence at schools.

Students, who have witnessed such incident, are usually traumatised and can hardly cope without psychological help. Many students and parents report terrible feelings and perceptions. “I was so scared when I heard gunshots. I ran and hid under a desk until the police came. Now I’m afraid to come back to school,” says a victim who survived this cruelty. Parents were calling desperately for their children, they even got more scared when they didn’t respond. These are just a few. As a result, the police has to deal with such incidents more and more often. “It is nothing scary anymore, we are already used to it”, claims a policeman. “We are already best prepared for such acts”, adds another officer. They have certain educations and trainings for these hardships.

Due to the school shooting on April 30th, this issue is more present than ever. Many students and parents are extremely frightened that they can also be victims. This clearly shows that much more could be done preventively.

Ich stehe kurz vor einem Job, in dem ich auch bisschen Englisch sprechen muss. Ich kenne die Grundlagen, aber ich möchte die richtige Kommunikation lernen und verstehen. Mir fällt das aussprechen der englischen Wörtern schwer.

Gibt es dafür spezielle Techniken, um die Sprache zu lernen?

Also ich schreibe bald meine englisch Klausur über Outline,Mediation & Analyse von stylistischen Mitteln. Die Frage klingt vielleicht ein bisschen dumm, aber ich bin nicht der beste in englisch und wir sollen in jeden der drei Texte 3 Gerundiums, participle, conditional & relative Sätze verwenden. Im groben und ganzen weiß ich auch was das ist. Jedoch bin ich grad am verzweifeln wie ich z.b ein Gerundium einbauen sollen wenn ich schreibe: “The author mention: …. is liking…. Für mich klingt das einfach nicht richtig. Hat wer ein paar Tipps/Beispiele etc.

aspects about them. When you use public transport, you can talk to other

Ich studiere einen Life Science Studiengang. Wir werden in 2 Semestern Vorlesungen auf Englisch haben. Es handelt sich hierbei um Vorlesungen im Bezug auf Laborarbeit und Biochemie.

Außerdem ist es gerade im wissenschaftlichen Bereich wichtig ein gutes Englisch zu haben (was ich meiner Einschätzung nach auch habe). Allerdings geht dieser Wortschatz den man hierfür benötigt weit über das hinaus was man in der Schule lernt. Daher wollte ich fragen, ob jemand vielleicht eine App kennt mit der man so einen spezifischen Wortschatz erlernen kann oder ob ihr eine andere Lernstrategie habt.

Meine alternative Idee wäre Dokus und Youtube Videos über entsprechende Themen zu schauen aber ich persönlich würde Vokabeltraining bevorzugen.

Das ergibt eigentlich keinen Sinn, denn die Wortbedeutungen sind gleich, ähnelt einem Hendiadyoin. Kann man das irgendwie anders auflösen? Und mich würde noch interessieren, ob from the get go häufig verwendet wird, mir ist es noch nie aktiv aufgefallen.

Wenn das so stimmt, dann hab ich folgende Frage:

Macht dann der Satz mit beiden Wörtern Sinn?

Wie findet ihr diesen Bericht? Was kann man besser machen?

ich bin 9.Klasse Realschule und habe am Freitag eine Englisch Präsentation über New York. Ich hab den Text auch schon fertig, allerdings bin ich wirklich sehr sehr schlecht in englisch. Ich kann’s einfach nicht. Ich habe vorallem Angst davor,wen mir der Lehrer und die Schüler fragen stellen,weil ich kann die nicht beantworten. Finally! We've made it to the adorable city London. Well, it's not really as adorable as I thought but I always have to high expectations. We are staying in a little hotel near the Big Ben. And theres my first point:

Big Ben is just gorgeos, I knew the tower is 96 meters high but I didn't know 96 meters are that high. My mum forced us to go to the science museum but the boredom killed me. I mean if you are a culture vulture maybe its cool but in my opinion it's as gripping as a bold tyre. An attraction which made my eyes really shine was Madame Tussouds. It felt like I am next to my idols but they are only waxfigures.

Tomorrow we are going to enjoy a London breakfast which includes duck and waffle, I would kill for these meals.

Essay: Pet and Teenagers

Should teenagers be exposed to pets at their age?

Having a pet at a early age helps teenagers learn about responsibility and taking care of others. At the same time, it can help them learn to take care of themselves. Some teenagers though, should never have pets of their own if they can’t control themselves and have difficulty with empathy. Therefore: Should teenagers be exposed to pets at their age?

Teenagers mature at different rates. Some can handle the responsibility of caring for a pet already and others not. That’s why the age is for the parent to decide. If teenagers are animal-friendly, then cats make excellent pets. They can be playful and entertaining, especially if people adopt a kitten. They are also relatively easy to take care for: good quality food, clean water, a clean litter box, toys and interaction with their owners for affection.

As mentioned, owning a pet helps in the development of a teenager for example learning to take responsibility for another life and experience what it means if someone depends on them. A pet also helps teenagers learning to give attention even if they are not in the mood for it.

Despite of that, how can teenagers even cover the costs of keeping a pet? Well, pets are expensive but if teenagers have a pet, they can buy cheap food or cheap toys, if they want to cover their costs. Teenagers can also spend their pocket money more for their pet or can earn some money in holidays.

To conclude, I would say teenagers should keep a pet, if they are ready to take care of it. If they care for their pet, they return the love. A pet doesn't question what kind of job the kid’s parents have or how much money they make, etc. They would love their owners if they show affection to it.

Hat hier jemand schon mal das CPE (Cambridge Proficiency Exam) geschrieben? Wie waren eure Erfahrungen damit? Habt ihr Tipps?

Ist es richtig, dass das since sowohl mit ,,seit“ wie auch mit ,,weil“ übersetzt werden kann?

Ich werde im Juni einen Einstufungstest in Englisch machen. Und ich bin jetzt schon nervös. Der Test kostet 221 Euro und ich hab Angst, das Geld in den Sand zu setzen, wenn ich nicht bestehe.

Hat hier jemand Tipps zur Vorbereitung?

Ich brauche mindestens 50 Wörter in diesen 8 englischen Sätzen auf Deutsch. Ich habe versucht, 50 Wörtern in 8 Sätze zu schreiben, aber es ist mir nicht gelungen. Mein Deutsch ist nicht sehr gut. Kann mir jemand helfen?

1- Don't use naked lights!

2- Don't enter this room!

3- Be careful! The substances here is toxic.

4- Be careful! The floor are slippery

5- You must wear a safety helmet here.

6- You must wear safety goggles.

Ich muss um halb 12 zur Schule, Wir haben Kommunikationsprüfung in Englisch. Wir müssen Cartoons beschreiben auf Englisch das mit Globalisierung zu tun hat. Mein Englisch ist aber nicht gut genug und oft fehlen mir die Worte um etwas zu erklären. Lohnt es sich jetzt noch zu lernen oder auf irgendeine Art und Weise im Internet noch mal zu schauen wenn ja wo?

Ich muss eine pro und Kontra Erörterung auf englisch schreiben. Sie sollte ca. 120 Wörter haben

Warum ist es im ersten Satz richtig looking zu sagen ( mit - ing) , im 2. Satz jedoch wird das ing an meet drangehängt und nicht an Look .

Kann mir das jemand erklären?

wie kommt man auf ein Englisch, Geschichts, Mathe oder Deutschbuch vorne aufs Cover wo meistens Leute drauf sind die fröhlich schauen ?

Momentan bin ich in Englisch sehr schlecht, weil ich große Lücken (bei Vokabeln & Grammatik) aus den vergangenen Jahren habe.

Ich hatte die Idee, jeden Tag einen Text in Englisch über irgendein Thema, das mich interessiert, zu schreiben und in den dann auch neue Vokabeln einzubauen und so mein Englisch hoffentlich wieder zu verbessern auf Dauer.

Wäre das eine gute Idee oder glaubt ihr, das bringt nicht viel?

Benutzt man in Bezug auf „Vertrag kündigen“ eher to cancel oder to terminate?

Es heißt ja „to terminate the employment“,

aber sagt man auch „to terminate the employment contract“ oder benutzt man dann to cancel?

im ersten Satz vor dem "vorstellen" ( to meet ) kommt , im zweiten Satz jedoch nach dem Wort vorstellen (to introduce)?

Muss ich im Satz has got oder have got benutzen im englischen? Ich habe gehört das Mann bei I/You/We/they immer have got kommt und das bei He/She/It immer have got kommt stimmt das?

Hallo, ich wollte fragen, ob diese Situation für euch nicht zu weit geht:

Letzen Mittwoch hatten wir Englisch und der Englischlehrer hat dann zu einer aus meiner klasse(nennen wir sie Lina) gesagt:

"Lina, go on with your sexy voice."

Sie selbst findet es respektlos und dass sowas ein Lehrer nicht sagt, wenn schon ein Kompliment, dann nice voice, aber doch nicht sexy.

Alle anderen waren auch geschockt, sie wollen ihn morgen, so weit ich weiß darauf ansprechen.

Geht das eurer Meinung nach zu weit und sollte man das mit dem Englischlehrer selbst klären oder lieber mit dem Klassenvorstand?

In my opinion life is easier today than it was 20 years ago because there are cell phones and laptops. You need mobile phones to reach someone quickly or to find your way to the train station, for example. Laptops are needed for home school/home office. 20 years ago there was no social media where you can meet new people.

Ich gehe auf ein niedersächsischen Gymnasium, in die 9. Klasse und ich spreche Deutsch, als Muttersprache und habe in der Schule noch Spanisch und Englisch und natürlich auch Deutschunterricht.

Leider haben ich Probleme in jeder der drei Sprachen. Nicht, dass ich sie nicht sprechen könnte oder so.
Ich habe in Spanisch und Englisch Probleme mit der Rechtschreibung und dem Satzbau, sowie mit Vokabeln. Laut meinen Lehrern habe ich einen zu geringen Wortschatz.

In Deutsch geht es eigentlich nur darum, dass ich wenn wir üben immer sehr gut bin, aber es in den Arbeiten dann nicht hinbekomme vernünftige Texte zu schreiben.

Könntet ihr mir helfen und mir ein paar Tipps geben? Ich würde auch mit Lernhilfen arbeiten, wenn ich von welchen wisst, die sehr gut für meine Probleme geeignet sind.
