Ich habe eine Frage zur Grammatik. Wenn man einen Text über ,,If I had the power to change the laws, I would..“

Wenn ich jetzt sage: ,,I would change that you aren‘t/weren‘t allowed to drink or buy alcoholic drinks unless you are/were 21“, wäre dann immer das mit were, also Simple Past korrekt? Ja, oder? Ich habe auch mal gesehen, dass manche dann are, also Simple Present verwenden

People are already failing at finding the correct definition of 'confidence.' Confidence is so much more than faking or a result of a pretty face. Confidence is simply having trust in oneself. It's being aware of one's strengths and weak points. It doesn't mean you are drooling over yourself 24/7 or acting like you are the coolest person on earth. Communicating your weak points, not in a cheesy way, is clearly showing a great sign of confidence. Maintaining faith in yourself and never backing down, whatever someone thinks of you, is confident. I am not here to teach you how to become confident because it's a heavy and long progress expecting ups and downs to achieve. But keep the difference between being pretty, successful, or an excessive show-off far from being confident. You can't even just be born confident; it's a long-term learning process. But if you are attached to it once, you go all ways with it!

Los Angeles has seen the evil

A recent school shooting in Los Angeles has brought the issue of school safety in the bad light. So, people became aware of these happening. On 30th April 2023, two 17-year-old students have armed their high school with two guns which left 11 people dead and 5 injured. This incident has left people worried about the safety of students and staff at schools.

Gun violence, especially in schools, is still a national crisis in the United States and migrants are still allowed to carry a gun because of the “national firearms agreement”. Due to the licenses of weapons, such acts are occurring more and more frequently. In order to protect students and school staff, most schools have security guards. There are also usually controls at the entrances. As a way to prevent non-schoolers from entering the school, they have their own school cards, which clearly show the identifies of the students. In addition, the police have increased their presence at schools.

Students, who have witnessed such incident, are usually traumatised and can hardly cope without psychological help. Many students and parents report terrible feelings and perceptions. “I was so scared when I heard gunshots. I ran and hid under a desk until the police came. Now I’m afraid to come back to school,” says a victim who survived this cruelty. Parents were calling desperately for their children, they even got more scared when they didn’t respond. These are just a few. As a result, the police has to deal with such incidents more and more often. “It is nothing scary anymore, we are already used to it”, claims a policeman. “We are already best prepared for such acts”, adds another officer. They have certain educations and trainings for these hardships.

Due to the school shooting on April 30th, this issue is more present than ever. Many students and parents are extremely frightened that they can also be victims. This clearly shows that much more could be done preventively.

The ending of Belinda’s story

Two days later James phoned Belinda.

“Hello?” Belinda said.

“Hello? Belinda? Oh my god! Is it really you?

Belinda was shocked. She recognized James by his voice. She didn’t know what to say. Tears fell down her cheeks.

“Why didn’t you call me the last year? I counted the seconds until you phone me, but you never did it.” she said crying.

When James heard her crying, he started crying too. “I’m so sorry Belinda. I lost your phone number. I tried to find you but have not been able to. Please let us meet. I want to see you again. I really missed you.”

“Me too” Belinda said.

The next day they met each other in a café. They talked for hours and decided to go the next week on a date.

2 years later the married and one year after the marriage they had a little baby. It was a girl and they named her “Amour” because it meant “love” in French, and she was the result of their love.

Ich bin in der 11 Klasse Gymnasium Leistungsfach Englisch und wir haben das Thema USA und deren Politik. Ich finde das soo langweilig aber nächste Woche müssen wir darüber einen comment schreiben, deshalb stellt sich mir die Frage wie ich mich auf sowas vorbereiten kann. Ich weiß wie man einen comment schreibt aber zu der Politik in den USA weiß ich gar nichts. Hinzu kommt eine Höraufgabe. Wie kann man sich auf sowas vorbereiten?

Was heißt in diesem Kontext "Yabetta"? Hab das noch nie gehört. Wenn das mein English-Professor sähe, der kriegt nen Herzstillstand.. 😂

Hallo, könnte sich jemand bitte meinen Text anschauen (vor allem Grammatik). Vorab will ich sagen, dass es um einen Tag in einem Bildungszentrum geht.

When we arrived there on the second day, we had to go to our maintenance groups immediately. On that day, there was another specialist, so we had to introduce ourselves to her. After introducing, we got two sheets of paper. On the first one, there was only an eye and on the second one, there was a whole face. She said we had to paint makeup on both the eye and the face. In my opinion, my pictures were very ugly and it was very difficult for me because I can‘t draw well and I have never worn makeup before. After that, we grabbed our hairdressing heads which still had curlers in their hair and we had to remove them. They needed to be left in their hair overnight so that a volume winding would form. Luckily, it worked! Then we had to create our own hairstyle on our hairdressing head. The specialist said my hairstyle was pretty good. Then we could style and wash each other‘s hair again and X wanted to try  volume winding again as it didn‘t work on the previous day. On that day, it definitely worked better but she had to dry her hair with a hair dryer for about one hour because her hair was still too wet to remove the curlers from her hair. I was so sorry for her. Finally, she did it after one hour and her hair looked gorgeous, so in my opinion it was worth it. In the last 50 minutes, we could wear makeup but of course I didn‘t want, so I observed my classmates again. On the one hand, I think I could work as a hairdresser in future because it‘s interesting what customers tell you while I‘m styling their hair and it‘s also interesting to try out different hairstyles but on the other hand, this job doesn‘t match to me  because I‘m scared of doing mistakes because for example I could cut off a customer‘s hair and I don‘t want to touch stranger‘s hair.
