Guten Tag, ich habe ein Outline geschrieben zu einem kurzen Textausschnitt aus einem Buch (eine Aufgabe aus meinem Stark Abi-Buch).

Im Anhang ist der Textausschnitt, hier mein Outline:
Sketch the problems Kim encounters on her first day at school in New York.
The given extract of the book “Girl in Translation” by Jean Kwok, published in 2010 deals with the failed cross-cultural encounter of the Chinese protagonist Kim at her first school day in New York. In the following, the problems Kim is confronted with throughout the day will be sketched.
One of the main issues she is confronted with is the language barrier. Kim has poor English skills and can thus not fully understand the teacher’s assignments.
Moreover, since the class mainly consists of American students, she has no one who speaks her language. Therefore, she has no one who can support her in terms of communicating. Having no support, Kim feels lost and disoriented.
Also, her classmates giggling at her reinforces Kim’s feeling of not being welcomed.
Reconnecting to the task, another problem Kim faces are the cultural differences she notices between herself and her surroundings. While she was used to sit in a more proper manner, her teacher doesn’t seem to be understanding her upright position. In addition to that, she experiences another cultural clash during lunchbreak.
Out of her uncertainty, Kim simply follows her classmates but is unaccustomed to their - in her perception – improper behavior. Also, the food she is not used to becomes a problem when she doesn’t fell as if she had eaten enough and even get sick from it.
After lunch break, another problem occurs when Kim must take a test. Due to her bad English skills, she is not able to understand the task provided. The teacher reacts very angrily when she looks at her neighbor’s sheet and accuses her of cheating. He even exposes her grade to the class which makes her feel guilty.
Reconsidering the task, a major problem Kim is confronted with is the fact that she now that she fears consequences from her mother because of the zero the teacher gave her.
Finally, Kim rushes out of the classroom feeling even more displaced by the experiences she made during her first school day in New York.
