Es ist tatsächlich eine (scherzhafte?) Verballhornung von legit, das selber bereits eine Verkürzung von legitimate (= rechtmäßig) ist. Siehe z.B. :

das is keine umgangssprache, sondern einfach extrem schlechtes englisch.. meiner meinung nach soll dieses wort "legit" ~ legal bedeuten..
