Martin Luther King was a civil rights activist. He grew up in the southern town of Atlanta, Georgia. His father well-known as the minister who thought thal all man were equal in God`s eyes. But very early he discovered that not everyone thought this way. While being at collage King decided to became a minister and study the life of Ghandi because he wanted to learn how to change the system of unfair laws and free people of India without using violence. In 1953 King married Coretta Scott.After getting married, he became a priest at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. Montgomery's black community had long-standing grievances about the mistreatment of blacks on city buses. Heading the year-long bus-boycott against segregation in buses, King soon became a national figure.

However, he soon discovered that not everyone thought this way. While at college, King decided to become a minister and he studied the life of Ghandi to learn how the system of unfair laws had been changed and how people had been freed non-violently in India. In 1953, King married Coretta Scott and afterwards became a priest at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. Montgomery's black community had ongoing grievances about the mistreatment of blacks on city buses. Leading the year-long bus-boycott against segregation in buses, King soon became a national symbol/hero.

Das kann ich nicht glauben...while being at college... ist voll banana...if so, she is wrong :-)....... and it is** college**.....collage is a piece of art.

wenn das wirklich stimmt dann hast du das Pech an ein schlechte lehrerin geraten zu sein.....aber davon gibt es leider einige.....ich habe so manche trainiert und gedacht "Hilfe"...

und ein gebildeter Muttersprachler wurde in den Satz "Whilst " nutzen....klar geht while aber whilst ist besseres Englisch
und ich habe oben geschrieben....mehr oder weniger....nach der tour ohne perfektion garantie....hausaufgaben die perfekt sind sind verdächtig :-)

-Es ist ein sachlicher Fehler, "while being at college" als falsch zu bezeichnen.
-Es ist in meinen Augen zusätzlich ein schwerer pädagogischer Fehler, den vermeintlichen (!) Fehler eines Englischlerners mit einer abschätzigen Bemerkung wie "voll banana" abzuqualifizieren. Ein Englischlehrer sollte das wissen. So werden Lernende nicht motiviert, sondern demotiviert.
-"Whilst" ist völlig unnötig. Auch "Gebildete" sagen durchaus "while". Wo hast du denn das Gegenteil gelernt?
-Ob dir hier jemand, der deine ungerechtfertigte Kritik kritisiert, nun auf die Nerven geht oder nicht, tut nichts zur Sache.

"While being at college" ist eine korrekte Formulierung.
(Ob es die optimale Formulierung ist, steht hier nicht zur Debatte.)
Da du hier Persönliches ansprichst: Mich würde in interessieren, in welchem Zusammenhang du in die Aus- und Weiterbildung deutscher Englischlehrkräfte involviert bist.

While attending college.....While visiting college etc... aber niemals... While being at college.
das du das nicht siehst sagt mir einiges , aber ein ähnliche Fall hatten wir schonmal.
und..2. Ich habe keiner Lehrerschelte verpasst sondern geschrieben..Das kann ich nicht glauben und dann.....wenn das wirklich stimmt . Zum weiteren, wenn es wirklich so ist, stehe ich zu 100% zu meiner Meinung , weil das ist schlecht. ! Es heisst freier Meinungsäußerung. Und es gibt sooooooo viele schlechte deutsche Englischlehrer.... überwiegen weil viele unbelehrbar sind und denken sie sind Götter. In England die Englische deutsch Lehrer übrigens auch :-)

ach so, ....ich finde es ganz schön arm das du diesen feineren unterschieden nicht akzeptieren willst, gerade das macht den Unterschied in England aus zwischen gutes und richtig gutes, kultiviertes english. Das man alles in ein Pott wirft und nicht auf feinheiten hinweisst zeigt ein akzeptanz der mittelmaß...traurig.
zB. Man kann auch ohne das wort whom leben, klar, aber in feineren kreisen wird es gern genutzt, und ist das bessere wort zu who in manchen Fällen. Sonst gäbe es diesen Wörter nicht!
und ungerechtfertigt ist kein kritik, wenn es stimmt :-))
Dein Fehlurteil wird durch Wiederholung nicht besser.
Und zu ein wenig mehr Gelassenheit würde ich dir auch raten.
Es heißt übrigens "privilege".
Deine Unterstellungen solltest du auch unterlassen.
Für "while being at college" findest du im Netz über 200.000 Treffer.

Es geht nicht um "feine Unterschiede".
Es geht darum, daß du falsche Behauptungen aufstellst und diese auch noch völlig unsachlich vorträgst.
So ist "while being at college" eben nicht "voll bananna."
Dein Zurückrudern weiter oben in Sachen "while" und "whilst" nehme ich zur Kenntnis.
(Ob du das, was ich schreibe, "arm", "traurig" oder "Mittelmaß" findest, ist mir schnurzegal.)
"While at college" ist mMn total rechtmäßig, "whilst" klingt natürlich besser, hab ich aber während meiner Zeit in Irland nur in seeehr gehobenen Texten gelesen und auch verwendet, und nicht in nem Schulaufsatz.. und "while being at college" klingt zwar fürchterlich, ist jedoch nicht "voll banana", da es eine grammatikalisch einwandfreie Formulierung ist. Natürlich gibt es schönere Ausdrucksweisen, man könnte die Konjunktion auch völlig weglassen und nur "at college" schreiben oder "while attending college"... und das hier "You're getting on my thruppennies with the constant rabbit"..... würde ein Muttersprachler ungefähr so häufig verwenden wie das in Englischbüchern so häufig zitierte "couch potato" - nämlich alle 5,5 Jahre wieder..

His speech “I Have a dream!” had major influence on the nation . President Kennedy sent the Civil Rights bill to Congress. In 1964 Komma the Civil Rights bill became (---) law. Atlanta ist keine Kleinstadt (town). sondern eine Großstadt = city.
