didn´t ist die Abkürzung für "did not". Die Aussage ist gleich.

Meistens "the deputy" und "did not".

Eric (solo) sang aber mal "did not (oder didn't) shoot NO deputy".

Bob Marley hat oft Rassismus in seinen Songs thematisiert.

Er wirft dem Sheriff vor ihn ermorden zu wollen weil er schwarz ist. Daher musste er in vorauseilender Selbstverteidigung ihn zuerst erschießen, so verstehe ich den Text.

Und weil Sheriff John Brown ein Rassist ist, der unschuldige Menschen erschießen will sei er kein Deputy.
