natürlich ist das auch immer abhängig vom Kontext.

like als eine Präposition vor einem Substantiv heißt wie 

Life is like a roller coaster. 

like vor einem Pronomen heißt so (wie) 

The police found her like this. 

as als Präposition vor einem Substantiv = als 

She was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar. 

as als Konjunktion vor Verb und Substantiv = wie 

We should have done as he told us.

Gewöhnlich ist die Konstruktion wie folgt:
