Hallo Elena,
In my last Vacation I was in New York. There I wanted to see as many attractions as possible in one day. Because of that I employed a Tourist guide. We first went to the statue of Liberty. I did not believe that it is so big. The guide told me that it is a symbol of liberty. Not only in New York, but for all of America. it was a present from France at the occasion of the the 100th jubilee of the Declaration of Independence. It stands on Liberty Island within the harbour of New York. She is forty-six meters high and is carried by an iron scaffolding in the inside. She stands with one foot on a broken chain. This is a symbol for the ending of slavery. On the board is written the date of the fourth of July 1776 and in the right hand she is holding a golden torch. Afterwards we went for lunch in Chinatown. While we were eating, he told me something about the history of this place. The Chinese immigrants began to move to Chinatown in around the middle of the eighteenth century. They were needed for the construction of the railway, which was the reason why they were coming to New York. and of course they brought their culture along. In the evening we went to ground zero. This was the location of the Twin towers and he told me what happened their at September the 11th 2001. Hijacker took over four planes and they flew two of them into the Twin towers of the former world trade center. Both of the skyscrapers burned down and about 2750 people died. Every year on that date they are having a commemoration in memorial of the people that passed away. The so called "tribute in Light".
Ich hoffe das hilft dir weiter.
