Ganz simpel im schnell durchlauf:
Du startest in dem ersten Akt und musst dich bis zum 10 Akt hochspielen, dabei befolgst du eine Story. Am Ende der Story hast du den Boss getötet und bist "frei". Dort befreist du dein Atlas und gehst etwas storytechnisch noch weiter. Ist es soweit fertig ist es dein Ziel alle Stones zu holen und sehr hohe Maps zu laufen im Atlas. Dabei hast du viele Mechanicen zur Verfügung, die mal in PoE eingefügt wurden. Und jede neue Season kommt eine neue Mechanic dazu.
Um das zu bewältigen erstellst du dir eine Klasse, die du frei bauen kannst. Skills, Skillpoints sind nicht vorgeschrieben. Empfohlen wird jedoch um wirklich weit zu kommen ein Build zu nutzen.
Für so etwas empfehle ich immer Entenburg seine Videos in 10min.

Bei weiteren Fragen stehe ich offen. Bin mittlerweile seit über 1.5 Jahre dabei und habe ein Freund der schon sehr sehr lange dabei ist.

PS: Das erlernen des Spiels dauert viel Zeit, man sollte daher Zeit mitbringen und wichtig gesagt man soll sich nicht vom Skillbaum abscheuchen lassen etc.
