Länder - Have oder Has?!
In letzter Zeit lese ich ständig:
England have, Iceland have, Sweden have usw. - ist das richtig? Ich habe da bisher immer has verwendet ...

It’s quite a small group of nouns, and usually the nouns in this group refer to politics or the state – so for example when we are talking about the police, the army, the navy, we can use plural or singular.
The thing to remember, is when we look at them as a collection of individuals, we would normally use a plural noun, and if we want to look at them as a unified institution we use the singular.
....., the United States can be singular or can be plural, depending on what you want to say about them. However, normally if you’re talking about the country, use the singular verb.

Auf der sicheren Seite - gerade, was den Englischunterricht an der Schule angeht - ist man also immer mit has, zumal die meisten Länder Singularwörter (3. Person Einzahl) sind.

Kein Schnickschnack, kein Wenn und Aber, macht euch das Leben nicht schwerer als es ist. Ist ein Land mehrzählig? Nein! Also....
Land + has / America + has / The US has oder have möglich (auch wieder weil "states" als Mehrzahl aber auch als "united states" = 1 Einheit, und daher Einzahl interpretiert werden kann. Wie immer, ist auch hier der Kontext wichtig.
- EU + has
- EU-Countries have
- EU-Comunity + has ...u.s.w...
"has" nur bei he, she, it - sonst immer "have".
Grammatikalisch korrekt heißt es wirklich "has", allerdings nennt man das mit dem "have" dann wohl künstlerische Freiheit. Ich erinnere mich da an ein Lied von Timbaland "The Way I Are" (dt. "Die Art, wie ich bist") ;)
Aber ein Land ist ja 3. Person Singular. Warum liest man dann trotzdem so oft 'have'? Gibt es da bei Ländernamen Ausnahmen?
