Jahrhundert kennengelernt hast. (mit Textvorlage)

Dear Tim,

I'm so glad you found my address! It was a long time ago when we played some games in our cabin on the ship, but I never forgot you. And now I receive that very unexpected letter.

But let me tell you something about our life here in Michigan. As you know, it wasn't that easy for us to learn a new language. I mean in Germany, we have never heard a person speaking English. Subsequently, when we arrived at Ellis Island we had many communication problems first. But we were lucky. After we had left the ship, we met a person who spoke English and German. So he could help us pass the legal examination. Luckily, we had no issues there. So we entered the city.

At first, we didn't know what to do, but then a group of German immigrants passed, and we decided to go with them to Michigan.

And that's how we got here. There were for us. For instance, my Dad didn't find work quickly. Subsequently, we were poor in our first weeks in the US. But we didn't expect to be rich after we arrived. Even though we fled from Germany because of poverty, we knew we wouldn't be rich in the US. We just wanted to start a new life.

Now that I have your address and you have my address, we can probably keep in touch. I would love to hear something from you!

Yours, Michael
