Hallo Leute,
Dear members of the selection committee,
I would like to introduce myself as a proper candidate for a semester abroad at Swansea University and illustrate my motivation in detail.
"A wonderful and unforgettable time," I've read this statement more than once in the numerous reports of students from Bamberg University who had the opportunity to spend a semester at Swansea University. When I heard about the possibility of studying at the Swansea University, I immediately realized that this was to be my first choice. I've heard from the beautiful coastal city before and I am sure that I will feel comfortable there.
Currently, I am studying Anglistics and Catholic Theology at Otto-Friedrich University Bamberg with the aim of a secondary school teaching degree. At the university department of Anglistics, I could attend several classes from the variegated course offer at Swansea University like, for example, classes in the study courses "English Language"; "English Language and Teaching English as a Foreign Language" or "English Literature (with Gender)".
In Combination with my studies at Swansea University I would like to improve my English and particularly my pronunciation. Where could I do this better than at an English speaking university? A semester at Swansea University will give me the chance to deepen my skills in a very fast and efficient way. The challenge of studying abroad, combined with a foreign language and culture, will not only benefit my academic knowledge and skills but also my personality. Language and culture are in my opinion always interconnected. To me it is simply not possible to study a language without being interested in the cultures where this language is spoken. Especially the possibility of living together with many other students in one of the large student residences at Swansea University sounds very interesting to me. I don't know this from my home university because Bamberg does not have as large student accommodations at all. Exchanging experiences with other young people from Wales and many other countries there will definitely broaden my horizon.
I am convinced that through my academic knowledge and my interest in getting to know a foreign culture, especially the Welsh culture, I am well suited as a candidate for a semester at Swansea University and I would spend the stay abroad continually motivated and committed.
If you have any further questions I am always at your disposal. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
....
