As for the gang crime, it also exists in San Diego, but it is impossible to compare with that in Los Angeles.

Gibt es in einem Satz 2 Zeitangaben, steht die detailliertere zuerst.

Für längere, komplizierter Sätze mit zusätzlichen adverbialen Bestimmungen (Ort, Zeit usw.) kann man diese Formel wie folgt verlängern:

(Z) - S - P - O – AOZG =

Zeit (kann am Satzanfang stehen) - Subjekt - Prädikat - Objekt - adverbiale Bestimmungen in der Reihenfolge: Art und Weise, Ort, Zeit, Grund (z.B. because).

I (= Subjekt) think you should wear(= Prädikat)

this dress (= Objekt) more often (= Art und Weise).

Hi:) Ich muss ein Englisch Aufsatzt über das Leben in einer Großstadt schreiben. Also die Vorteile und Nachteile aufzählen. Findet ihr bei meinem Text hier irgendwelchen GRAMMATIKALISCHEN Fehler? Verbesserungsviorschläge? Ichh weiß das hier ist keine Hausaufgabnhilfe, aber es sind ja auch keine Hausaufgaben:)

*First of all I would like to say, that I think, that the life in a city is better and more interesting, as in a city are many activities to occupy your time, for example you can go in a disco,cinema or you can go shopping as well. However in cities it’s very noisy, but for those people who wants to relax at a calm place, they can go in a park, where they can read a book on a bench or they can go in a library. They also could meet friends in a café or restaurant. In addition in a city you have countless job opportunities, as many companies and shops are situated there. Nevertheless the cost-of-living in a city is higher than in the countryside. I think that’s an important disadvantage, which you should know. Especially the rent or the food is more expensive in the city. Furthermore cities are polluted and there is a high rate of crime. Therefore many parents want their kids grow up in the countryside. But a city people have the best chance to work and study, because there are good universities to choose from a big city. Because of this aspect I want to live in a big city later. On the other hand I think a big disadvantage is that a city is really crowed with cars especially in the rush hours. Many people try to go by bus metro to work to avoid the traffic jams, but mostly the transportation are unreliable an you come late to work. In conclusion I think the life in a city is better, mainly because of the job opportunities and the activities. As well I think, that the advantages prevails the disadvantages. *

After NY have SF the biggest Chinatown in the USA, but there are more men than women. There is a high earthquake risk. The worst earthquake was on April 18th, 1906, which killed 3000 People and destroyed 75% of california. Experts fear more earthquakes in the next 30 years, which are so bad as that on 1906

SF is known for it victorian houses,which are build in the middle of the 19. century.But cause o fthe earthquake 1906 the half houses were destroyed, so the price increased about the hundredfold. Near the catrals and museums there are many sightseeings, like the market street, where you can go shopping, or the transamerica pyramid.A 260 metre high scyscrapper with 48 floors.It was build from 1969 to 1972 under the architect william pereia. But the probably popularest sightseeing ist the world-famous golden gate bridge.The architect from the 2,8km long and 25m wide bridge is joseph b strauss. The bridge was completed on April 19th, 1937, and authorized for the traffic officially on May 28th the year.It is the connection between the Pacific Ozean and the San Francisco Bay. And it’s 67m high and 2739m long. In the past many people who have considered to commit suicide, jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge. Nowadays it’s secured with a higher fence.

Hello today I am going to give a presentation about California. First, I am going to tell you the most important infromation about California, then I am going to explain its history and after that I will talk about some of the attractions.

So what is California. California is a western state in the USA. It is bordered by the pacific ocean in the west, Oregon in the north, Nevada and Ariyona in the east and Mexico in the south. The capital city is Sacramento. California has a population of about 39 million people and the land area is 403,934 sq km big. It is the third largest state after Alaska and Texas in the US by area, while by population it is the most populated state. It also has the largest economy of 2.9 trillion dollars of all the american states.

The origin of the name of California came after Califia, a myth island paradise from a spanish roman that was written about 1510. The nickname of california is the golden state because of the gold that was discovered back in 1848, but it has many more nicknames like the Grape state, sunshine state and golden west

The states largest cities are Los Angeles, San Jose, San Fransisco, San Diego. The most common languages are English, Chinese and Spanish. Another information is that California has the highest point Mount Whitney and the lowest point Death Valley in the United States.

Now I am going to talk about the history. From the beginning , California has been inhabited by native americans. The first european that visited California in 1542 was a portuguese explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo. In 1821 when Mexico became independent from Spain California became a province of Mexico. In the 1840s settlers started to rebel against the mexican rule.After that in 1846, it bacame an independent country because of the group of settlers who were led by John Charles Fremont.The new independent country was called the bear flag republic.

This independence didnt last long because of the mexican american war so 1848 the republic became a territory of the USA. In 1848 the gold rush began because James Marschall discovered gold at Sutters Mill the gold rush lasted from 1848 to 1858. Between 7 years over 300,000 people moved to California . California first beecame a state on september 9th 1850as the 31st state of the US.

Renewable energy Good morning ladies and gentleman, Today I’d like to talk to you about a very important and currant topic: renewable energies. But what are renewable energies? Renewable energies or regenerative energies are energy sources which are inexhaustibly available to use or energy sources which can be renewed very fast.

Fossil fuels in contrast need millions of years to be renewed. Renewable energy is the most important factor of the sustainable energy policy and the energy revolution. Examples are: bioenergy, geothermics, hydropower, ocean energy and wind energy But how do they work? The energy source the sun for example is giving us light for millions of years. With her we can easily heat water. Solar thermal installations are therefore standard facilities at new houses. The solar panels produce heat which we can use for showering, heating, and other things in our household. To produce current there are two ways: solar cells convert light directly into current. This process is also called recombination. In warmer countries there are often solar thermal power plants. With big mirrors the sunlight gets bunched, converted into heat and stream turbines can be boosted. Then the direct current can be transported. The advantages of renewable energies are that they are like I said sustainable and they never run out, secondarily they require less maintenance than traditional generators. Their fuel being derived from natural and available resources reduces the costs of operation.

Even more importantly, renewable energy produces little or no waste products such as carbon dioxide or other chemical pollutants, so has minimal impact on the environment. Renewable energy projects can also bring economic benefits to many regional areas, as most projects are located away from large urban centres and suburbs of the capital cities. These economic benefits may be from the increased use of local services as well as tourism.

It is easy to recognize the environmental advantages of utilizing the alternative and renewable forms of energy but we must also be aware of the disadvantages.

One disadvantage with renewable energy is that it is difficult to generate the quantities of electricity that are as large as those produced by traditional fossil fuel generators. This may mean that we need to reduce the amount of energy we use or simply build more energy facilities. It also indicates that the best solution to our energy problems may be to have a balance of many different power sources. Another disadvantage of renewable energy sources is the reliability of supply. Renewable energy often relies on the weather for its source of power.

Ich musste erst letztens einen letter to the editor (Leserbrief) schreiben. Da das, im Fach Englisch, für mich eine völlig neue Textsorte ist, wollte ich fragen, ob sich jemand bereitstellen würde, sich meinen Text anzusehen und zu sagen, was er davon hält. Danke!

Hier der Text:

Dear Sir, I am writing about the recent article in your newspaper regarding the smoking ban in restaurants in the City of Wausau. In my opinion, the implementation of this law to prohibit smoking is really difficult and unclear. However, as a non-smoker I believe the basic idea behind is a good step forward to change the environment in restaurants in a good way.

Firstly, the atmosphere of a restaurant is probably the most important aspect for a customer. I often notice that the unpleasant smell and look of smoking areas make a restaurant to a not welcoming and inviting place. The smoking ban makes it possible to the public to have a better atmosphere but also a healthier environment.

Smoking also means high costs. A smoker have to pay every month hundreds of dollar for cigarettes depending on how much he smokes. The smoking ban could maybe encourage people to smoke less and to save money. Nevertheless, this is only the point of view of a non-smoker.

There is also another point, which is possibly of even greater importance. Health problems related to smoking are often a much-debated topic in public. Many smokers suffer from arterial damage, heart disease or osteoporosis. The poisonous chemical tar causes damage to the lungs and pharynx. In a restaurant, a smoking ban can protect the non-smokers not to smoke passively and endanger their health.

At this point, I would like to express again my doubts about the implementation of such a law. I think it is difficult to enforce a smoking ban in every restaurant. There is always someone, who breaks the law. Every innkeeper should be able to decide whether to ban smoking or not. I hope my suggestions will be taken into consideration. Yours sincerely ...

Mumbai's population is divided into two sections. On the one hand, there live the wealthy and well-paid people, on the other hand, many people live there in slums are poor and can even afford to live just a little bungalow.

A big advantage in the city, are the attractions. There you can view the artworks of this unique culture. the culture is in buildings, roads and human recognizable.

However, there are also negative aspects that speak against this city. For example, slums are not a good outlook as a tourist. The poor people, poor children and beggars would adversely affect the tourist.

By and large, is mumbai a very interesting city. As a tourist you will discover there a lot and can learn new things.

Santa monica is famous for his long beaches and the santa monica pier. The Santa monica beach is 3.5 meilen (5,6km) long that she divide the beach in to sectors in north of the pier and in south of the pier . The north of the pier is seperadet from the city by the poles and The south of the pier is at the same level with the city, Hotels,houses and parks on this side is the muscel beach to they training lots of people by the beach. The Santa monica Pier is in the middel of the two sectors the pier is the landmark for the city you can there always go to the amusement park and to the restaurants.

Nevada is a state located in the West in the United States, which lies between the Sierra Nevada and the Rocky Mountains and is the 7th largest state in the United States. It has 5 bordering states:Arizona,California,Idaho,Oregon,Utah... It is a land of flat plains and sandy deserts, but there are also green valleys and snow-capped mountains.Large parts of Nevada are military restricted areas.In southern Nevada is the Nellis Range, on the local Nevada Test Site (NTS), most American atomic bombs were tested, it is one of the largest military testing grounds in the world. Also included in Nevada still the famous "Area 51",which is an military restricted area too.The huge "Area 51" in Nevada is known as the most secret area of the United States.The Area 51 is located north of Las Vegas. He is closely guarded, fenced, and any attempt to enter it, is punished severely. The AREA 51 is held by many people for the center of UFO research. The longest river is the River Colodary with 2330km and the highest mountain is the Boundary Peak which is 4000m over the sea level. Because too little grazing land, farmers can operate only livestock. It makes up only a small share of the gross national product Nevada. Much more important are the revenues from the gambling metropolis of Las Vegas, Reno and Laughlin. This Las Vegas, because of the many casinos known, is the largest city in Nevada with 600k population. Tourism is determined by the games, of course, especially in las Vegas. This takes place mainly along the South Las Vegas Boulevard, also known as a strip . Here are a lot of casinos and hotels, the amazing architecture building are all great eye-catcher.There is for example the Palazzo, the Mirage, the Ceasar's Palace, the Bellagio, and the Venetian, and many others. Another attraction is "The Stratosphere Tower", which is 350 meters high and the great views, as well as the remains of many restraunts, the casinos and especially the roller coaster at the top of the tower attract visitors. Argumentative text

A statement that is often discussed by liguists is whether German similar to English serves as a lingua franca.

An argument in favor would be that German is spoken in many parts of the world. So overall 180 million people speak German worldwide. The german language is even in eleventh place among the most spoken languages in the world.

Furthermore, German is the most spoken language in europe. For example in Austria, Swisse, Namibia and parts of the Netherlands.

And moreover, it is closely related to other languages which makes it easier to learn. Swedish, Norwegian and Danish are often mentioned as examples.

In order to come to a balanced conclusion, I will now explain the other point of view.

At first, English is used much more often as an official language than German. Especially in Africa, as these countries were former colonies. There are many countries whose universities teach in english. In Germany, for example, around 600 courses are taught exlusively in english.

Secondly, German itsself is a language which is very hard to learn because of the grammar. And in comparison, English is much easier to understand and learn. So other countries do not educate their pupils German at school which is another disadvantage.

Last but not least, German is mainly spoken in countries which are close to each other. But it is less spoken in countries that are further away.

Personally, I am more convinced by the contra side. I believe that English is best suited as a lingua franca. Of course, German is also in some way a lingua franca but I do not think that it serves as such similar to English. Therefore it would be also contraproductive to classify German as the new official communication level.
