Dear host family,

my name is XXX. Currently I am 15 years old and I´ll tourn 16 on May 21st. I live in a small village between Munich and Salzburg in Bavaria, Germany. At the moment I attend the 10th grade at a secondary school in XXX, which I will graduate in June. In this letter I´d like to tell you a bit about myself:

As I mentioned before I live in a small Village named XXX with approximately 4400 inhabitants. It is in the fore hills of the alps and I it only takes me ten minutes to the nearest mountain Hochfelln. There we go skiing in the winter or hiking, climbing or mountain biking in the summer.

We also live here near the largest lake of Bavaria named Chiemsee, which can be reached in about 15 minutes by bike from my hometown. There are also a lot of smaller lakes in the surrounding area.

XXX, where I visit school, is the closest town. It takes 15 minutes to get there by car. Munich, the capital city of Bavaria, is a one hour drive from XXX. You can get to Salzburg in about 30 minutes by train or car, across the border to Austria. Sometimes we visit theatre performances or concerts there.

I live here with my parents and Grandmother in a farm yard with horses on a little hill, where we have a beautiful view to XXX and the lake Chiemsee.

I also have an older brother named XXX, who is ten years older than me and is currently doing a trip around the world with his girlfriend XXX. Because of the age difference we weren’t verry close in the past, but since Corona we got to know each other better and he is now one of my dearest friends.

Furthermore I have a great relationship with my parents. We go on vacation together, do bike tours, go hiking, climbing or skiing. I know that I can always go to them with any trouble.

I really love my friends even if I don’t have a lot but I think quality is better than quantity. We love to explore nearby cities like Munich or Salzburg, where we can easily get by train. There we visit museums or simply go shopping.

In summer we go cycling or swimming in one of the lakes nearby. We sometimes have picnics with homemade snacks too. In winter we often go skiing or ice skating. ...

...In addition to the hobbies I mentioned above I played Tennis in a club for approximately four years, but I quit because my teacher wasn’t very nice and so my teammates quit too. I really liked it and still play it sometimes with my parents.

Besides that I also like to cook and bake very much. I have a major called nutrition and health at my school, where we learn all about nutrition and we also have a school kitchen where we can cook.

I’m passionate about reading, for example I really like fantasy books like Harry Potter, A Court of Thrones and Roses or the Silver Trilogy.  Currently I’m reading The Hunger Games.

I would describe myself as an open minded, sometimes shy and spontaneous person. Likewise am I an introvert and need some time to myself after a long, busy day.

I hope you could get an impression of me and my life.

I am looking forward to getting to know you.

Love XXX
