Ich muss am Dienstag eine kurze Präsentation über Route 66 in/auf Englisch machen. Wenn jemand Lust hat wäre es sehr nett wenn ihr mal kurz über meinen Text lesen und evtl. auch verbessern könntet...
We have already talked about Route 66 in class but today I want to give you same more informations.
She is 2451 miles long and leads from Chicago to Santa Monica. Route 66 was one of the first continuous road connection between east- and westamerica. She wasis opened in 1926. Another name is 'Mother Road' or 'Main Street of America' It runs through the states Illionis, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.
Before Route 66 there weren't any other continuous and paved roads between east and west. Merchants (damit meine ich Händler, stimmt das?) and settlers must drove through prairies (Prärien?) and bad roads. Due to the emerging traffic after the first world war a lot of roads were build. The wishRoute for a continuous and paved connection between east- and westamerica arised. That's why 1926 the roads were connected to each other and the Route 66 arised. At the beginning just 800 miles were asphalted, only from the year 1938 the complete road was asphalted. Between 1930-1960 Route 66 was the importantlyst (gibt es das?) east-west-connection of the USA. She promoted the move to thea westcoast, because earlier there were more jobs.
The Route 66 could always leaa meet the growing traffic (konnte dem wachsenden Verkehr nicht standhalten?). The course often was changed, bypasses were build, detours abbreviated or the complete cours was changed. Over timethe the Route was replaced with modern, multitrack and curved arm highways and the gas stations, restaurantes and hotels were closed.
The road was symbolized through lots of famous Roadside Attractions. Usually it's about buildings, figures and writing tablets, but there also were bridges, hotels and gas stations who were special because of their eyecatching nature.
Some residents found 1987 the 'Route 66 Association'. They are trying to lure tourists to the former main road and make their forgotten places again popular. But the biggest part of the today still 3400 kilometers is lonely and lost.
This was my presentation about Route 66, I hope you enjoyed it and if you have any questions you can ask them now.
