Wie sagt man das richtig auf English?

Oder:

Als erstes wurden ihm die Klassenzimmer gezeigt = First, the classrooms were shown to him

@Gutgelaunte568

Ich wurde selber (a) benutzen, obwohl First, the classrooms ... ist eine genauere Übersetzung, ist (a) besseres Englisch! Es war mir nicht eingefallen, daß hier eine Wahl zwischen 2 Lösungen war!

Bitte Korrektur (Englischer Text über great Gatsby )?

Hallo, ich muss morgen mündlich ein referat halten und ich weiß mein englisch ist nicht sehr gut. Könnt ihr folgen text inhaltlich verstehen und hab ich irgendwo grammatische Fehler?

To escape from the summer heat, the group takes a suite at the Plaza Hotel. But before they can start drinking Tom tells the others about what he found out about Gatsby and his wealth. Tom finally confronts Gatsby, mocking his use of the phrase "old sport." Tom accuses Gatsby of never having been at Oxford. Gatsby clarifies that he was at Oxford, but only for five months after the end of the war. Gatsby tells Tom that Daisy never loved him. Gatsby waits for Daisy to say her line, but she doesn't, so he tells Tom, "Daisy never loved you."

But she did love him at the same time that she loved Gatsby. She didn’t say I don’t love you. She hesitates.  Gatsby replies that she plans to leave Tom and marry Gatsby. Daisy, however, refuses to confirm that she never loved Tom. Tom regards Daisy's affair with the lower-class Gatsby as one of the harbingers of the decline of civilization. Soon, Tom hisses, there will even be intermarriage between the races. Tom calls Gatsby a "common swindler" and reveals that he has made his fortune in bootlegging. Gatsby has earned his money with criminal deals like alcohol and drugstore. Tom tells Gatsby that Daisy would never leave him for a "bootlegger." As the confrontation draws to a close, Nick realizes that today is his thirtieth birthday.

Es geht hierbei um das Buch the great Gatsby kapitel 7 den streit zwischen Gatsby und Nick.

Summary "The Land Lady" : Bitte mal drüber lesen ;)

Hey :)

Danke schonmal ;)

In the following I´m going to summarize the short story "The Land Lady" written by Roald Dahl. Seventeen year-old Billy Weaver has to take a journey from London to Bath for giving a report due to his work at London Head Office. Arrived in Bath, Billy asks the porter for a good and cheap hotel to stay the night. The porter recommends "The Bell and Dragon". On his way to the hotel, Billy notices a lovely decorated house, which he likes at first moment. As he finds a printed notice with the inscription "BED AND BREAKFAST" he can´t walk away and presses the bell. A nice mid-forty woman opens. Owing to the cheap price, Billy chooses to stay. Thus the woman shows him parts of the house including his room. She also wants him to sign the guest book before going to sleep. While drinking a cup of tea with the land lady, Billy notices that the book got only two entries by men, whose names sound familiar to him. Further those entries are about two and three years old. Besides he remembers the mens´names from newspaper articles he read. The story ends with Billy asking the land lady if she ever had any other guests except the two man. Finally she answered that he was the only guest.

English reported speech (backshift of tenses)?

Hallo,

Ich habe eine Frage zu folgendem Satz:

Walter: “I have been cleaning the house for the entire day, that's why I needed a break.”

Ich würde das so umformen:

Walter claimed that he had been cleaning the house for the entire day, and that he had needed a break.

Stimmt das?

Und gibt es irgendwelche Regeln, wenn es zwei Tenses in einem Satz gibt?

Kann mir jemand dieses summary von "A message from the Pig-man" korrigieren?

habe eine summary zum text a message from the pig-man von john wain geschrieben, wäre nett wenn ihr eure meinung dazu äußern würdet und ggf fehler verbessern könntet oder zumindest sagen, wo sie sind :)

The story „A Message from the Pig-man“, written by John Wain, is about a 6-year old boy named Eric, which has many questions he would like to ask but is afraid to do so.

Eric is the son of newly divorced parents. He has no siblings and his mum has a new boyfriend named Donald. He has difficulty with the new circumstances and does not understand why his father had to leave just because Donald moved in. He also does‘nt mind sharing his room in order for his dad to have the spare room. He is afraid of the pig-man and avoids him. He imagines the pig-man as a man who looks like a pig. One day, his mother asks him to catch the pig-man to bring him the scarps. First he was afraid, but when he sees the pig-man he realizes that the pig-man is a normal person and finally understands that the people call him pig-man, because he has some pigs that he looks after. Eric is no longer afraid of asking questions. When he comes home, he asks his mother why his father can‘t stay with them but his mother does‘nt answer him. Now he thinks that grown-ups are very silly and he hates them all.
