In manchen teilen der Welt, kennt man kein Toilettenpapier... da nimmt man z. B. einen Stock. :-|

presentation about water pollution: findet ihr Fehler?

Hallo :-),

Water pollution

Now I want to present the very important topic water pollution because it is one of the most contributing factors to global warming.

What is water pollution?

  • the damaging and biological and chemical change of the water's ecosystem because of pollutants (for example in lakes, rivers, oceans & the groundwater) → mainly triggered by humans

main causes of water pollution & their consequences

  • wastewater from households or factories with chemical substances (e.g. Soaps that were flushed down the toilet.)
  • marine dumping → people throw away they waste (e.g. plastic bags, bottles) → animals mistake the rubbish for food and eat it or → fishes get caught in plastic packaging and die and → with a fish that eats plastic starts a food chain, then people can get ill when they eat this fish
  • oil spills from broken oil ships → forms a thick mass on the surface of the water → fishes can't get air, marine bird can't fly because of oil in their feathers
  • radioactivity & burning fossil gases causes acid rain → polluted rainwater falls down and ends up in lakes, rivers
  • global warming → increases water temperature → disturbes the sensitive ecosystem → it means death of many marine animals and organisms

How to make a difference?

Everybody has to change his habits to make a change...

  • don't use to much water, especially warm water → turn off the water when it isn't necessary → it reduces the wastewater that drains off into natural water areas
  • don't flush chemicals, oils, etc. down the toilet
  • use eco-friendly household products (like washing powder) → it avoids that chemicals end up in the wastewater
  • don't throw rubbish away into the nature, use the correct rubbish bin

Finally, a shocking fact: Over 1 million seabirds and 100.000 sea mammals die because of water pollution every year.

Englisch Aufsatz?Fehler?

Hallo zusammen!

Is the American Dream still alive? It's not an easy question to answer, especially in our current times full of uncertainty in our work and in our lives. The basic idea of the American Dream is that anybody can achieve anything, no matter how great the odds are against him or her. Most Americans believed that with a strong will and hard work, anybody can go from rags to riches. But reality show us something different… First of all, one can say that not everybody has the same equal opportunities, for example different education. Because of the individual community which has to pay teachers from local taxes (property taxes) and mainly coloured people and Hispanies live in regions where local governments do not get lot of taxes because the wort of the properties is quite low. This is the reason why schools in disadvantaged neighbourhoods are in a bad condition and teachers are not highly qualified. That explains why students and inhabitants of these areas has little chances of upward mobility and are often despairing. As a consequence of the bad education, people cannot find a well-paid job so that they can hardly escape from there. In disadvantaged neighborhoods are often a high unemployment rate, a high crime rate and much drugs abuse. As a result of the high unemployment rate are these areas known for poverty. Another point is that there are a large number of broken families and many students who leave school without taking their first exams. The life in disadvantaged neighbourhoods can be compare with a vicious circle. To sum up, one can say that the state does not take care and treat all people equally. Consequently, it grows a gap between the rich one and the poor people in the USA. So that many Americans lose faith of the American Dream.
