UND DER ARTIKEL

Trayvon had left the house he and his father were visiting to walk to the local 7-Eleven. On his way back, he caught the attention of George Zimmerman, a 28-year-old neighborhood watch captain, who was in a sport-utility vehicle. Zimmerman called the police because the boy looked “real suspicious,” according to a 911 call released late Friday. The operator told Zimmerman that officers were being dispatched and not to pursue the boy.

Zimmerman apparently pursued him anyway, at some point getting out of his car and confronting the boy. Trayvon had a bag of Skittles and a can of iced tea. Zimmerman had a 9 millimeter handgun.

The two allegedly engaged in a physical altercation. There was yelling, and then a gunshot.

When police arrived, Trayvon was face down in the grass with a fatal bullet wound to the chest. Zimmerman was standing with blood on his face and the back of his head and grass stains on his back, according to The Orlando Sentinel.

Trayvon’s lifeless body was taken away, tagged and held. Zimmerman was taken into custody, questioned and released. Zimmerman said he was the one yelling for help. He said that he acted in self-defense. The police say that they have found no evidence to dispute Zimmerman’s claim.

Trayvon was buried on March 3. Zimmerman is still free and has not been arrested or charged with a crime.

The news paper article “The Case of Trayvon Martin“ written by Charles M. Blow published by “The New York Times? on March 16th 2012 kein Komma presents the sequence of the murder of Trayvon Martin who was shot by George Zimmerman.

The action took place in Sanford, Florida in the evening of 22nd February 2012.
At first, the author narrates that Trayvon and his father were coming home from the local supermarket. George Zimmerman, who is the neighborhood watch captain, gets curious about the boy.

Next, Charles M. Blow states that Zimmerman decides to call the police, that tells him to stay inside the car. But he chases Trayvon anyway and after a verbal confrontation Komma they start to fight. The police found the dead body of Trayvon Martin laying on the ground after hearing a gunshot from Zimmerman’s handgun. However, George Zimmerman had been later on (Position) released with the justification that he was acting in self(-) defense (= AE; BE = defence) (according to the “Stand your Ground Law?). Furthermore, there is no evidence that could proof something else. Trayvon’s funeral took place on March 3.

  • The summary is usually written in the present tense.
  • But past events may be reported in the past, future events may be reported in the future.
  • Statements or questions which were made in the past may be reported in the past tense or the past perfect.
  • Statements and questions which were made in the past but concern the future may be reported in the conditional.

  • Progressive / Continuous Tense
  • Wörtliche Rede
  • Zitate aus dem Originaltext
  • Eigene Meinung, Gedanken und Kommentare
  • Stellungnahme
  • Schlusssatz
  • Erzählerische Elemente, z.B. suddenly, unfortunately, at long last …

** 2) newpaper article ; published in the NY Times

3)Was meinst Du mit "sequence"? Meinst Du vielleicht consequences?

4) The incident took place.... ;

5) "At first the author narrates" weglassen.

6) "Next, Charles M. Blow states" weglassen

7) decided

8) .. call the police, which tell him to... (Komma vor "which". "That wäe hier falsch. "Police" ist immer PLURAL)

9) ...Martin** lying** on the ground.. ("lay" heißt min korelktem Englsich LEGEN, nicht "liegen")

10) Later, however, GZ was released... (past perfect ist hier falsches Tempus)

11) .. released because the court ruled he had acted in self-defense...

13) The court also ruled that that there was no evidence to **prove (that the killing of Martin was against the law) **

Erstmal DANKE!
